In the foreground the lower slopes of Wain Hill with the alluvial flats and land geology. The broad valley in the middle distance included the low-lying Nailsea Coalfield. The skyline is formed by the Carboniferous Limestone ridge of Broadfield Down on the right, and the Bristol - Clevedon ridge on the left. The Flax Bourton gap is seen in the centre on the skyline.
