Description: Henbury Hill Quarry, Henbury, Bristol. Looking N. Vertical limestone, Carboniferous Limestone Series. The picture shows bedding plane surfaces in the Concretionary Beds (S2) at the top of the Clifton Down Limestone. The rocks are vertical and the red-stained bedding plane on the left-hand side is studded with the moulds or impressions formed by algal nodules. In the upper part of the quarry face fine-grained pale grey limestone shows well-developed polygonal cracks due to dessication.
