Description: St. Vincents Rocks, Avon Gorge, Bristol. Looking ENE. Avon Gorge Series. Clifton Down Limestone at St. Vincents Rocks, Clifton, Bristol. The recess in the cliff is due to quarrying. An infilling of dolomitic conglomerate appears on the skyline in the middle of the quarry recess. The rocks are strongly jointed and there is considerable shearing and minor faulting. The eastern abutment of the Clifton Suspension Bridge is seen top right.
