Description: Foot of Bridge Valley Road, Bristol showing the northern part of Observatory Hill, Clifton, Bristol. Looking ESE. The Avon Thrust as seen from the left bank of the Avon Gorge. In the foreground are the limestones and sandstones of the Upper Cromhall Sandstone (Hotwells Group). Folded sandstone in the footwall of the Avon Thrust are seen beneath the limestone cliff on the right-hand side of the picture. The hanging wall of the thrust is composed of Clifton Down Limestone.
