Description: Selwick's Bay, Flamborough. Looking SE. Selwick's Bay, Flamborough. Cliffs of Chalk overlaid by glacial deposits. The point on the left is Flamborough Head. The erosion of the Chalk along major joint-planes is shown. The ground-level at the lighthouse is 150 ft. O.D. The erosion of the bay itself is largely due to a fault throwing down north-west and running north-east - south-west. The cliffs of the south side of the bay are flinty chalk, the north (foreground) flintless; the top of the flinty chalk forms the tidal platform in the foreground.
