Caption: High Stacks, Flamborough.
Description: High Stacks, Flamborough. Suture lines' in Chalk, High Stacks, Flamborough. These lines are named from their resemblance to the joints in a human skull. The pinnacled surfaces of chalk in each lower stratum are separated by thin bands of marl. They are apparently due to removal of Chalk in solution, the marl being the insoluble residue. Four suture lines with varying thickness of marl, are seen in the vertical wave-washed face of the Chalk.
