The narrow spit of shingle and sand joining Spurn Head to the mainland; the Humber to the left; the North Sea to the right. The shingle travels southwards, but is arrested by the groins. On the north of these (far side in view) it is banked up level with the top of each groin, but falls away rapidly on the south. |
