Description: The Avon Valley between Conham and Hanham Mills, near Bristol. Looking NW. The picture shows the steep-sided valley or gorge of the River Avon in Pennant Sandstone (Coal Measures). The Avon Valley crosses the Durley Hill Fault at Hanham Mills. East of the fault the valley at Keysham Hams is broad and shallow with a wide alluvial plain, west of the fault it is narrow and trench-like.
