Description: 750 metres NE of mouth of Ecclesbourne Glen. Looking NE. Hastings Beds cliffs with rock fall. The cliffs are cut in basal Wadhurst Clay (with 'Cliff End Sandstone' forming a prominent band near the cliff top) and upper Ashdown Beds. The high Ashdown Beds are false-bedded sandstones and silts. Notice the stepped profile produced by the alternating hard and soft bands. The slip in the foreground is composed chiefly of rock fall material from the free faces of the cliffs. The strong jointing and the alternating hard and soft beds contribute to the rapid wasting of these cliffs.
