Description: 500 metres ENE of Ecclesbourne Glen. Looking N. Section in middle Ashdown Beds. A close-up of massive sandstone bed below trough cross-bedded unit of photograph A11322 in previous photograph. At the top a piped irregular ferruginous surface with mudflakes probably represents an erosional interval. The section is chiefly in fine silty sandstone; the ochreous band in the centre is rich in sphaerosiderite. Below the hammer head the proportion of slightly darker silt increases passing into banded lithology, eventually passing into friable silty mudstone at the base. (Total section c. 2.6 metres.)
