Their red colour contrasts with the white colour of the similar beds about a mile to the south, in the White Quarry. Note irregular bedding. No beds are constant and the winning of the stone is therefore difficult and depends on the constantly changing face of the quarry. Also known as Lindley's Red Quarry. |
