Description: Southwell landslip, Portland. Looking S. Chasm between main mass and slipped masses of Portland and Purbeck Beds. Extensive landslips occur along the eastern and western sides of the Isle of Portland, masses breaking away along the north-to-south gully joints. In the Southwell landslip the slipped mass has travelled only a few yards, widening the gully joint into a chasm. See No. A4968.
