Description: Guestling Brickworks Ltd., Three Oaks, near Hastings. Looking S. Head in working face of brick-pit. Up to 4 m. of brown silty loamy head are not worked - it overlies blue calcareous shales of the Wadhurst Clay (not seen). The colour-mottling seen is due to leaching linked with ground water fluctuations and plant roots, traces of which can clearly be seen. The Head is a soliflucted deposit of local materials, but could include some wind-transported silt.
