Description: Butterley Reservoir, Marsden. Looking E. Delta formation in Butterley Reservoir, Marsden. A rapidly flowing stream enters Butterley Reservoir from the steep Butterley Clough, and on reaching the reservoir its current is checked by the waters of the reservoir with the result that delta fans are thrown down, and these are here seen in section when the water of the reservoir is at a low level. The steep-sided clough is wholly in the Kinderscout Grits.
