The cliffs are of the upper part of Bridport Sands (Upper LIas), capped by several feet of Inferior Oolite Limestone. The horizontal-bedding gives rise to a vertical cliff face. The resistance to weathering of the hard ribs of calcareous sandstone in the Sands, is well shown. See A5849. |
