The ganisteroid sandstone contains abundant vertical rootlets and a few subhorizontal Stigmaria root stocks. The overlying dark grey, bituminous, silty mudstones (Caton Shales) contain a 0.2 m. thick argillaceous limestone 0.6 m. above their base. |
