Caption: Scaleber, near Settle.
Description: Scaleber, near Settle. High Hills - Scaleber area. The high crags forming the central skyline (High Hills) are composed of reef facies and contiguous shelf limestones (Gordale Limestone) which form a northward-rotated block on the downthrow side of the Middle Craven Fault. The fault scarp of the latter forms the distant white scars on the right. The quarry in the middle distance exposes Scaleber Quarry Limestone (Holkerian) which passes northwards (to right) under reef limestone and reef derived boulder beds. The foreground is underlain by Upper Bowland Shales (Pendleian) which unconformably overlie the Dinantian rocks.
