Description: Gordale Scar, near Malham. Malham Formation. Gorge through Malham Formation limestones. The Cove Limestone (Holkerian) forms the lower massive bedded crags; the contract with the overlying Gordale Limestone (Asbian) is the prominent bedding plane visible in the left-hand cliff. Note the tufa deposit below the waterfall. The gorge was cut by glacial meltwaters.
