Description: | View of the Scar House dam, Nidderdale. Looking NNW. In the foreground are tumbled blocks of Red Scar Grit (Namurian, E2) from Woodale Scar. The dam stands on sandstones and mudstone of the Grassington Grit Group (E1) resting on Underset Limestone (P2). High up the slopes of Carle Fell are quarries in the Scar House Beds (highest E2) which provided masonry for the dam. |
