Description: Morpeth Scar, Penhill. Looking SSW. The Middle Limestone, here exceptionally thick (60 m.) forms a bold wooded feature. The feature on the skyline (left) is Dove Scar in the Main Limestone. The line of opencuts and levels in the slopes below Dove Scar are for roofing tiles in sandy beds of the Underset Cyclothem. The dale of Walden is in the distance (right).
