Description: | Dow Cave, near Kettlewell. Looking E. into the cave from cave mouth. Cave roof in the basal portion of the Hawes Limestone overlies 5-15 cm. mudstone (completely squeezed out in places). The sides of the shadowed cleft (centre, left) are in a well jointed part of the Great Scar Limestone which is easy to see at surface in Dowber Gill. This is overlain by less densely jointed limestone up to the roof of the cave. |
