Caption: Malham Cove.
Description: Malham Cove. Great Scar Limestone (D1) above Malham Cove. The clints formed by solvent acting rainwater on joints in the limestone are well seen. In the middle distance the bedding of the limestone is clearly visible. Note how some bedding planes form continuous, often grassy ledges. These major bedding planes can sometimes be traced for miles.
