Description: Pen-y-Ghent from Rainscar, Silverdale. Rising above the plateau in Great Scar Limestone (Lower Carboniferous) is Pen-y-Ghent with the main limestone forming a cliff at the left-hand end of the mountain. A higher cliff and the hill capping is in the Millstone Grit.
