Description: Late Boreal/early Atlantic peat on the foreshore in St. Ouen's Bay. The peat occurs in the modern beach and is gradually being destroyed by modern wave action. The top surface of the peat shows the effects of gullying caused by this erosion. Erosion is however intermittent as the peat is buried by modern beach deposits for most of each year and only exposed by severe storms.
