Caption: Chouet, Vale, Guernsey, Channel Islands. Looking NE.
Description: The 8 m. raised beach in Chouet Quarry. Up to 2 m. of beach gravel can be seen resting on a steeply sloping bench cut in very weathered granodiorite. The granodiorite is heavily stained by iron and weathered to a coarse angular sand near its top. The beach gravel is covered by 1 m. of loessic head and made ground. Several large sub-angular boulders of granodiorite occur in the beach gravel and the gravel can be seen to lens out (at a height of 10 m. above mean sea level) in the left centre of the photograph.
