Description: | Forth Bridges panorama from Long Craig Pier, South Queensferry, looking west-north-west. Forth Railway Bridge built 1890, Forth Road Bridge built 1964. The bridges cross a narrow part of the Firth of Forth constricted on the northern side by the hard resistant quartz-dolerite sill at North Queensferry and outcropping on the island of Inch Garvie, seen underneath the second arch of the rail bridge. Land at the south end of the bridges is much softer Carboniferous Calciferous Sandstone Measures. |
