Description: | Findhorn Bridge, Strathdearn. View looking north-east from the Victorain road bridge over the River Findhorn, and original route of the A9 (T), towards the railway (near) and new road bridge (far) over the river close to the village of Tomatin. The River Findhorn here occupies a broad flat bottomed valley, with terraces cut (right hand side of the view) into outwash glaciofluvial deposits of the Main Late Devensian glaciation (c. 18 000 million years befor present, BP). Bedrock is little seen in this part of the Strathdearn, but is intimated to consist of red biotite granodiorite rocks forming the Silurian age (c. 425 million year old, Ma) intrusion of the Findhorn Pluton. |
