Description: | Oblique aerial view of South end of Ben Avon tors, Aberdeenshire. Tors on the Cairngorm plateau. A view westwards from upper Glen Gairn on the southern edge of the Cairngorm plateau. The stream draining Ben Avon in the centre of the photograph is the Allt an Eas Bhig and the rocky ridge in the background is Beinn a' Bhuird which rises to 1196 m. at its northern end. The photograph shows part of the dissected summit plateau of Ben Avon with its characteristic tors, composed largely of biotite granite with local patches of microgranite. |
