Description: St. Leonard's Craig Sill, Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, Midlothian. The St. Leonard's Craig and Heriot Mount Sill, cropping out from near right to far left in the photograph, is a composite intrusion whose central portion is teschenite (rich in analcite) but is otherwise similar to Dunsapie basalt. It dips eastwards and is intruded into shales, cementstones and sandstones of the Ballagan Formation, Inverclyde Group, which underlie the lava pile. The escarpment formed by the sill forms the western boundary of the park for some distance.
