| Description: | Whiting Ness, Arbroath, Angus. Unconformity of Upper Devonian upon Lower Devonian (Upper Old Red Sandstone and Lower Old Red Sandstone). Unconformity of the shallowly-dipping (c.10 degrees to the east-south-east) Upper Devonian red conglomerate and sandstone upon more steeply inclined (15 to 20 degrees to the south-east) red sandstones of the Lower Devonian strata (Arbroath Sandstone of the Garvock Group). A small fault shifts the unconformity on the right of the section. The unconformity can be traced for 250 m. |
