Description: The mountain Schiehallion from Queen's View, Loch Tummel, looking west, Perthshire. The loch level has been raised to make a hydro-electricity reservoir. The rocks are mainly Middle and Lower Dalradian metasedimentary rocks. The symmetrical nature of Schiehallion aided the early practical attempt at determining G the gravitational force by measuring the deflection of a plumb bob by the mass of the mountain.
