Description: One of the larger glacial drainage channels in the area, it controlled the water levels within the ice occupying Strathallan and so was a major influence in controlling the sand and gravel deposition in the strath. The spillway would have continued to function only for as long as the ice in lower Strathallan remained an effective barrier to southward drainage into the Forth Valley. Eventually the meltwaters would have found their way through channels in or beneath the ice. Glacial drainage channel. This valley was cut out by glacial meltwaters draining north-eastwards from Strathallan into Strathearn during the retreat of the Late Devensian ice-sheet. Lower Devonian lavas dipping north-westwards are prominent on Craig Rossie.
