Description: Oblique aerial view taken near the head of Loch Voil Glen, west of Balquhidder, Central Region. Hummocky moraine in the floor of a highland glen. The morainic drift deposits were formed at actively retreating ice margins during deglaciation at the end of the last ice age. Note the wide, flat alluvial terraces through which the river flows, even the tributary stream flows in developing alluvial flats as it erodes through the moraine. Also note the deposition of shingle in the lower energy environment of the inside of the river bends and the deeper water in the higher energy environment of the outside bends.
