Description: Craigs of Cuildell, Moray. Earth pillars. Residual pinnacles formed by the rapid erosional degradation of small spurs composed of Middle Old Red Sandstone conglomerates which in the past have undergone deep weathering, resulting in softening of the matrix. The removal of debris by the river aids in maintaining the active erosion of the pillar by not allowing the debris to form a protective cover of scree.
