Description: Cliffs on the west coast of Esha Ness, looking north-east from Esha Ness lighthouse, Shetland Isles. Cliffs of Old Red Sandstone age andesitic agglomerate and andesite and in the middle distance, ignimbrite at the Grind of the Navir. The white water in the sea is caused by the waves breaking over the shallower wave cut platform that extends out from the base of the cliffs, headlands and stacks. The sea even on a calm day is a very powerful factor in marine erosion.
