Description: | Stoura Pund, the headland at the end of The Neap, 2.7 km. west-north-west of Hillswick, Shetland Isles. Granite cliffs and stacks. Cliffs and stacks of granite of the Northmaven Plutonic Complex form the foreground. In the background are the low cliffs of ignimbrite 'rhyolite', andesite and basalt of the Middle Old Red Sandstone volcanic series of Esha Ness. It is thought that the Northmaven Plutonic Complex and the volcanic rocks of Esha Ness are separated by the large and probably transcurrent northward extension of the Melby Fault. |
