Description: Eye Water, Kip Rock, looking north, Berwickshire. Gorge in Silurian greywackes capped by terrace gravels and sandy boulder clay. Kip Rock, on the left bank in the centre, is a late Carboniferous quartz-dolerite dyke about 30 m. wide which runs east-west and also forms the steep bluff on the right bank. The dyke has a steep southerly dip. Ale Water enters on left. Many dykes (and sills) of this type were intruded in Scotland and Northern England during this episode of igneous activity dated around 295 Ma.
