The rocks belong to the Precambrian Dalradian Supergroup and consist of a series of metasedimentary rocks folded into the large Ben Lawers Synform. Much of the agricultural land on the far shore is made up of Loch Tay Limestone with overlying crags of Ben Lui Schists, the latter outcrop over a wide area on both sides of the Ben Lawers Synform. The Ben Lawers Schists on the upper slopes occupy the core of the Ben Lawers Synform. Strike line featuring is prominent as the rocks leave the 'flat belt' to dip into the Ben Lawers Synform. |
