Description: There is no surface feature to indicate it. The Middle Terrace deposits are about 15 to 20 ft thick. The underlying floor of London Clay plunges down into a deep channel, now filled with drift to a thickness of more than 56 feet. Southgate Council Gravel Pit, in Hedge Lane, Middlesex. T.W.
