Caption: Bournemouth. Swanage Excursion, May 17th 1910.
Description: These clay beds are covered with a dark lignitic sand with many fragments of wood and plant stems and were laid down as banks of mud and sand at a river's mouth. Added note: Plateau Gravel, Boscombe Sands, Upper Bagshot Sands (Bournemouth Marine Beds) clay overlaid by thin bands of lignite.
