Caption: Aust Cliff. Bristol Excursion, April 22nd 1919.
Description: This cliff section exposed on the bank of the Severn at Aust shows in every detail the gradual passage from beds of Triassic age to those of the Jurassic system. The colour of these marls is due to the particular oxide of iron they contain. The Red marl having ferric oxide Fe2O3 while the green and blue have ferrous oxide FeO. Added note:Tea Green Marls, Red marls.
