Description: Weisdale Voe, Mainland, Shetland Isles. A voe eroded along the line of the north-south strike of the country rocks. The valley at Weisdale has been eroded, mainly by glacial action, parallel to the strike of steeply-dipping metamorphic rocks. Since deglaciation Shetland has subsided leading to the drowning of valleys and the formation of 'voes'. Glacially transported boulders can be seen in the foreground and a low cliff resulting from marine erosion of soft glacial deposits, in the middle distance.
