Caption: Columnar Volcanic Mud. Baked by Lava Flow. Tideswell Dale. Derbyshire, July 29th 1914.
Description: At Tideswell Dale is a bed of red clay which was formerly a volcanic mud. This is found interbedded in the limestone. After its deposition a stream of lava flowed over it which hardened and baked it and caused it to assume a columnar structure.
