Caption: Opthalmosaurus (ichthyosaur) juvenile reconstructed skeleton from the Oxford Clay Formation of the Peterborough brickpits on display in the geology gallery of Peterborough Museum.
Description: Near complete fossil skeleton of a juvenile, possibly newborn Opthalmosaurus (ichthyosaur) from the Peterborough Member, Oxford Clay Formation. Found at Star Pit, Whittlesey [TL 23 97] by Nigel Truss and excavated by Alan Dawn and Sean Shearman in 1995, and donated by Hanson Brick Ltd to the Museum. Approximately 85% complete, lacking skull, it has been reconstructed with a replica skull and is on display in the Museum's Jurassic gallery since 2012 (Museum specimen number R340).
