Description: The south channel of Loch Moidart, looking west-north-west from a gorge (Bealach Sgairt Dea Uisge) 0.8 km. south-south-east of Dorlin House, Inverness-shire. Photograph shows rugged topography of Moine schists (mainly pelitic). The island of Eigg (in distance) is concealed by haze. Eilean Shona is on right. The Moine Succession is a group of metasedimentary rocks the oldest of which were deposited between 1500 and 1025 Ma. ago, the youngest pass upwards into the Dalradian strata whose base is taken to be about 700 Ma.
