Description: Craigencallie and Craig Hill, 4.0 km. south-south-east of Straiton. Cliffs of andesite lava. Looking north across the alluvium-covered flood plain of the Water of Girvan to Craigencallie (the cottage in the centre). Craig Hill behind is composed of Devonian lavas of the Straiton syncline. The wooded slope on the right is underlain by Lower Old Red Sandstone conglomerates and sandstones, partially faulted against the lavas. The Devonian lavas of this area are dark grey or purple rocks consisting largely of basalt and basaltic andesite.
