Description: Bannock Burn, 0.8 km. north-west of Muirpark, 7.2 km. south-south-west of Stirling, looking west, Stirlingshire. A waterfall formed over a resistant limestone of the Carboniferous Calciferous Sandstone Series. The hard beds of slabby Bannock Limestone 'F' (at top) and hard beds in the ashy sediments below, forming a cascade. For some distance below the cascade the stream flows through the soft Volcanic Detritus (a formation name), above the Calciferous Sandstone Series lavas. On the left of the waterfall are old waste-heaps at the crop of the Murrayshall Limestone 'D' and in the extreme top left corner are cliffs of an overlying dolerite sill.
