Description: | Bannock Burn, 0.8 km. north-west of Muirpark, 7.2 km. south-south-west of Stirling, looking west, Stirlingshire. A waterfall formed over a resistant limestone of the Carboniferous Calciferous Sandstone Series. A cascade over the hard beds of limestone at the top of the Calciferous Sandstone Series. In the distance in centre are the old workings in the Bannock Limestone 'C'. Behind the waterfall the sediments fall stratigraphically between Limestone 'C' and 'D' (the latter also known as the Murrayshall (Hurlet) Limestone) of the Lower Limestone Group. |
