Description: This slide shows a tree trunk from the famous fossil forest on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, southern England. This specimen was collected by Rev John Henslow, Darwin's mentor at Cambridge, in the 1830s. Age: Jurassic Period, 150 million years old.
