Description: Mouse Water at Cleghorn Hill, about 2.4 km. north-east of Lanark, Lanarkshire. The unconformity of Lower Carboniferous strata upon Lower Old Red Sandstone. The Lower Old Red Sandstone (soft brown micaceous sandstones) is seen in the lower part of the bank dipping upstream at 20 degrees, overlain unconformably by almost horizontal soft green marls and calcareous sandstones forming the base of the Carboniferous Calciferous Sandstone Series.
